Accept Changes() Begin Edit() End Edit() I try to use them like this, to change the value of a field in first row: ds.
NET Thank's (if you try to help me) Hope this help you (if I try to help you) ruca schrieb I removed the ASP group from the list. Net programmer, though the question is not about ASP. I'm a Nissan driver an don't post my VB questions in the Nissan group (only mentioned to clarify how to choose a group)) Can I update a Data Set or a Data Table using something like object. I was looking for something and I find out this functions, but I don't know for real what they do.
The way the architecture works with the Data Adapter is that you can make any changes you want to the filled Data Set, and it won't affect the database until you call the Update method.
When Update is called, the Data Adapter will attempt to execute each query (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE) on every row of the Data Set that has been updated, inserted, and deleted.
To be honest though, I think they missed the boat on convenience.
As a quick intro, here’s a sample screenshot of Data Set Designer: hard, right? Maybe there’s a better way, but just to change my one, single, measly column name and datatype, here’s what I had to do as far as the Data Set Designer goes (in other words, excluding code changes in other application layers as well as the initial change in the database) have the Data Set Designer, not too crazy. I’d rather not require Carpal Tunnel therapy every time I change a column name.
Going to the underlying XML code (right-click in the Data Set Designer and click View Code) and doing a quick find and replace helps in changing the name where needed, but it can be a risky move and you’re still left with manually changing the datatype.
