In October 2017 the Sri Lankan parliamentary delegation, led by H. Petersburg, Russia) and had meetings with Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Mr. Sergey Lavrov paid a working visit to Colombo in October 2009, during which he held talks with President of Sri Lanka H. On March 24, 2017 the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Fisheries, two Memoranda of Understanding on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation and on Cooperation in the field of Tourism and the Protocol on Cultural Cooperation for the years 2017-2019 were signed.
